<\/a>Back on June 20, anchor and business editor Neil Cavuto, 57. of Fox Business Network and Fox News Channel underwent open-heart surgery<\/a>.<\/p>\nA Fox spokesperson said:<\/p>\n
Neil Cavuto had open heart surgery yesterday and came through it with flying colors. Knowing Neil, he\u2019ll be back as soon as he can, but he is slated to return to hosting his three programs on Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network later this year. Everyone here is wishing him a speedy recovery.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
This is hardly the first medical issue for Cavuto \u2013who declares that he isn\u2019t interested in red or blue, only green (as in the title of his FNC show \u201cYour Money With Neil Cavuto\u201d). He battled cancer, only to be diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1997.<\/p>\n
In 2012, I spoke to Cavuto for Zap2it.com<\/em> <\/a>about dealing with MS while covering the presidential election. He said:<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a little humbling, because it\u2019s like, I was going and and going and going and then, I get through Election Night, and I get through all the interviews, and I get through everything, and then it\u2019s like my body<\/span><\/span> says, \u2018All right, you little effer, I\u2019m through with you.\u2019 And I feel it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wish I could marshal whatever cells come into action during the period I\u2019m engaged in something, because either my body chooses to re-prioritize differently or ignore the illness \u2014 not that I\u2019m not aware of it \u2014 I do wish I could maintain that same physical energy that collapses once the deadline has gone by, and the event has passed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Because there is no cure for MS, and because it is a degenerative neurological condition, Cavuto faces challenges during every live broadcast.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll tell ya,\u201d he says, \u201cwith something like this, my biggest fear with MS<\/span><\/span> are the cognitive issues, that you forget things.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Cavuto hasn\u2019t been on-air since May 31. He\u2019s senior vice-president, anchor and managing editor of business news for both FBN and FNC. Ordinarily, he\u2019s also anchor for\u00a0FNC\u2019s \u00a0\u201cYour World\u201d\u00a0(weekdays 4:00-5:00 p.m. ET) and \u201cCavuto on Business\u201d\u00a0(Saturdays 10:30-11:0 a.m. ET), along with\u00a0FBN\u2019s \u201cCavuto: Coast to Coast\u201d\u00a0(weekdays noon-2:00 p.m. ET).<\/p>\n
That\u2019s a lot of TV for one man, so I checked back in this week with the FBN\/FNC publicity team to see how Cavuto was doing, and was told:<\/p>\n
Neil is recovering and in good spirits.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
