A Cut for a Cause: Bush Goes Bald for a Little Boy

A Cut for a Cause: Bush Goes Bald for a Little Boy July 24, 2013

Two-year-old Patrick is battling leukemia—and while his prognosis is good, the treatments have caused him to lose his hair.

So Patrick’s dad Jon and all of his friends have shaved their hair, so that they would be bald, too.  Patrick’s dad is a member of former President George H.W. Bush’s  security detail—and this week, the 89-year-old former president joined the others in going under the razor to show their solidarity with young Patrick.  He has been empathetic; the senior Bushes lost their first daughter, Robin, to leukemia when she was only four years old.

George and Barbara Bush have also reportedly made a contribution to Patrick’s Pals, a fund established by members of the Secret Service detail to help Patrick and his family.  The security team has also organized the  Inaugural Patrick’s Pals Motorcycle Benefit Run, which will be held August 10 in Maine.  For more information about Patrick’s Pals or about the Motorcycle Run, visit the website.
