In a story reported on CBS Detroit<\/a>, <\/strong>a ninth grade biology worksheet asked students to determine, using blood types and DNA possibilities, the identity of a fictional baby\u2019s father. \u00a0The worksheet was sent home with students at Romeo High School, about 30 miles north of Detroit. \u00a0The purpose of the assignment was to help students understand the complexities of genetics.<\/p>\n

One unamused parent,<\/strong> though, sent the worksheet back to school unfinished with a note, \u201cWe teach our children not to sleep around.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Both the teacher and the school principal have apologized. \u00a0Romeo Schools Superintendent Dr. Nancy Campbell explained that the teacher had gotten the worksheet from a resource book available to teachers. \u00a0Campbell said,<\/p>\n

\u201cTeachers use all kinds of different\u00a0resources\u00a0that are available to them. \u00a0[This incident] brings in awareness for all of our staff to, you know, be more thoughtful and reflective about the items they use when they put them on a homework assignment.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Campbell added that \u201conly one parent had complained.\u201d \u00a0Does that mean that only one person cared about the assignment? \u00a0 Romeo School District: \u00a0586-752-0225.<\/p>\n
