Welles was a young man of 25<\/strong> in 1941 when he wrote, directed and starred in the film which was voted \u201cbest film of the previous century\u201d by the American Film Institute.\u00a0 In the movie, Welles played a fictional media tycoon<\/strong> (based loosely on the life of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst).\u00a0 In his ruthless pursuit of power, Welles\u2019 character acquires more and more property, more wealth, more prestige\u2014but at the end of his life, it\u2019s not his worldly riches which he remembers but the sled he had enjoyed in the innocence of childhood.\u00a0 His dying word was the name of the sled:\u00a0 \u201cRosebud.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Orson Welles died on October 10, 1985; but his legendary film lives on.\u00a0 Considered by many film critics to be the greatest film ever made, \u201cCitizen Kane\u201d was re-released on Blu-ray in a special 70th<\/sup> anniversary edition on September 13, 2011.<\/p>\n Welles\u2019 much-deserved Oscar will be going on the auction block this month, according to Sam Heller of Nate D.
