I\u2019m afraid Donald Trump is going to be president of the United States of America. It almost nauseates me saying it. I have blogged about this for months. Back then, I didn\u2019t think it could happen. Now, polls show he has gone from having no chance to win against Hilary Clinton in the general election to being tied with her. He\u2019s got the momentum. He\u2019s like a steam roller heading straight for White House, and Hilary Clinton is in his way. Look out Hilary! She says she won\u2019t do any mud slinging against him. But he<\/em> will. And Trump is much more charismatic than she is, which she admits. He\u2019s somewhat of an entertainer. And he\u2019s going to turn up the fire a notch when he continues to accuse Hilary of enabling her husband Bill\u2019s past philandering. No telling what Clinton dirty laundry Trump might hang out for the American public see. Yet I doubt that The Donald\u2019s laundry is any cleaner.<\/p>\n

I think Donald Trump is not qualified to be U.S. president. He certainly would be a sorry role model. He\u2019s so narcissistic and bombastic. He speaks so ill of other people. He can be quite degrading of women. You can\u2019t believe him half the time. He often calls people liars, and that\u2019s the pot calling the kettle black! He\u2019s like a big fish flip-flopping around on various issues. For example, he said he would reveal his income tax returns, as other presidential candidates have done for decades; but now he says he won\u2019t and that \u201cit\u2019s none of your business.\u201d I think Donald Trump is a big bag of hot air<\/em> ready to blow up like the Hindenburg blimp if he becomes U.S. president.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m worried for this country if Donald Trump becomes president. A lot of leaders of foreign countries don\u2019t like him and think he would be a terrible U.S. president. One is David Cameron, prime minister of the United Kingdom, the #1 ally of the U.S. The one foreign leader I know of who says he likes Trump, even though I guess he hasn\u2019t met him, is Russia\u2019s former KGB guy and now president again\u2013Vladimir Putin. Oh, that\u2019s just great! Talk about a government leader who can\u2019t be trusted.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s talk about foreign governments and individual foreign investors in American securities, especially U.S. government Treasuries, selling all such investments if Trump becomes U.S. president. I wonder how much that could affect our financial well being. If it happens, it will be because people are worried about what Trump will do. He\u2019s such an unknown commodity when it comes to being a government leader and having a foreign policy.<\/p>\n

In assessing Trump as president, about all you can do is go by all of his bombastic statements: build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border and Mexico will pay for it; deport all 11 million illegal immigrants here; check all Muslims entering this country; impose huge trade tariffs on China that would certainly start a tariff war; get the U.S. out of the United Nations and perhaps NATO. I think that last one could be the second worst of all even though it has not gotten much print in the U.S. Isolation\u2013just what we need. And then there is Trump\u2019s constant claim that he\u2019s more \u201cmilitaristic\u201d than any American politician. Oh, that\u2019s great. Set the Doomsday Clock at a minute to midnight if Trump has his finger on the nuclear button. The Trumpian list of such harsh and ridiculous statements goes on and on.<\/p>\n

All American voters should read the article in today\u2019s The New York Times<\/em> entitled \u201cExperts Find Several Flaws in Trump\u2019s Plan for a Wall.\u201d One such expert is Michael Chertoff, the secretary of Homeland Security in the George W. Bush\u2019s administration. Chertoff actually increased immigration enforcement significantly. He says of Trump\u2019s plan to deport 11 million illegal immigrants in this country, \u201cIt ain\u2019t happening.\u201d<\/p>\n

I think the wall could happen, regardless of Trump. But finding 11 million illegals, getting the approval of courts to deport them, and then keeping those out who will be trying to return to their families here that have citizenship, would be utter chaos. Plus, many are from other countries farther away than our next-door neighbor Mexico. Thus, the U.S. would have to bear the cost of flying them to their previous homelands. All of this activity would cause the Border Patrol and other government agencies to \u201ctake their eye off the ball,\u201d which is keeping drug smugglers, other criminals, and especially terrorists out of this country. To use Donald Trump\u2019s overworked word, it would be a total \u201cdisaster.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to polls, Donald Trump is not liked by most Americans. But it\u2019s no better with former First Lady and Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton. It\u2019s looking like if these two presumptive nominees of their political parties wind up being our choices in the presidential election this November, most voters will cast their ballot for one of them mostly to prevent the other one from being president. What a sorry state of affairs. I might be one of them, or else I won\u2019t vote.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
