$\"DonaldTrumpDebate\"$ <\/a>President Donald Trump held a political rally tonight here in the Phoenix valley where I live. I thought the speech he delivered was mostly a disgusting rant that was very unpresidential. He continued his diatribe against what he calls \u201cthe fake media.\u201d For a while, he read printed remarks that he had made in previous days about the violent, racial demonstration last week in Charlottesville, Virginia. He had been extremely criticized for some of his remarks and omissions, failing to adequately condemn racism. He then spent much of speech defending those remarks. There may not be anything worse that can happen to a U.S. president than to get a reputation as a racist. I\u2019m not saying he is, but he failed miserably in the way he handled it and looked like a racist. That\u2019s why many top CEOs immediately withdrew from panels President Trump had set up to assist him. Business dumped the business president, and he had to disband three such panels. What an embarrassment it was. But he deserved it. I think Donald Trump is a sinking ship. And as he goes down, he\u2019s dividing America all the more.<\/p>\n

President Trump\u2019s main motivation in holding this rally tonight was to stir up his voting base in an effort to have as much political support he can muster when special counsel Robert Mueller makes public his investigation into the suspected Russia effort to get Trump elected last year. That is, if Mueller has anything on President Trump that could cause Congress to consider impeaching him, Trump could try to rally his voter support base to apply pressure on members of Congress so they will prevent a move to impeach him. The other possibility is that Trump will simply resign before an impeachment move gets started.<\/p>\n

The congressional directive states that Mueller can explore all things Trump and that of his campaign people that Mueller suspects of criminal activity, thus not only the Russia probe. President Trump had warned Mueller not to investigate Trump\u2019s finances. Trump is full of bluster, so that threat means nothing. Or does it?<\/p>\n

President Trump had fired FBI Director James Comey because Trump told him to quite his Russia probe investigation, and he wouldn\u2019t do it. That right there may have been obstruction of justice. Mueller effectively took Comey\u2019s place, except his investigation is now under the auspices of the Justice Department. Congress recently passed a law that will make it very difficult for Trump to fire Mueller. If that happened, it would be like the Saturday Night Massacre of Watergate. But Trump recently hired John Dowd as his lead lawyer. Apparently, Dowd convinced Trump to change his tactics because Trump then spoke positively of Mueller.<\/p>\n

This speech tonight will just cause more Republican members of Congress to jump off the sinking Trump ship. Yesterday, the media revealed that Republican Senator Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and President Trump had a phone call two weeks ago that was a shouting match with expletives. (McConnell reportedly now says it is questionable if Trump can save his presidency.) That phone call was surely prompted somewhat from Trump having previously blamed McConnell for the failure of the Senate to overturn the so-called Obamacare by one vote. That vote was cast at the end by our Arizona Senator John McCain, who is now undergoing treatment for serious brain cancer. Both McCain and our other senator, Republican Jeff Flake, are way on the outs with President Trump. In fact, they are leaders of a somewhat anti-Trump Republican movement in Congress that could get very ramped up in the days ahead.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
