<\/a>They say \u201cthe gloves are off\u201d now between former heads of our U.S. intelligence community and President Donald Trump. The president has been constantly bashing his own intelligence agencies all during his presidency, accusing them of lies and being a part of \u201cdeep state.\u201d I think what little proof the president offers to support such allegations is very lame. I also think such allegations are an effort to obstruct justice by getting the Mueller investigation shut down. Such behavior makes it obvious that the president has something serious to hide from the American people because he is risking impeachment.<\/p>\nThe gloves are off because, this week, former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, John Brennan, made a strong accusation against President Trump that went well beyond anything Brennan has lodged so far. He made the remark because last week Trump fired deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe. Brennan directed his remark toward the president while saying of this firing, \u201cWhen the full extent of your venality, moral turpitude, and political corruption becomes known, you will take your rightful place as a disgraced demagogue in the dustbin of history. You may scapegoat Andy McCabe, but you will not destroy America\u2026America will triumph over you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Soon after that, The New York Times<\/em> published the following, \u201cOne nytimes.com commentator, who described himself as a \u2018teacher who is used to dealing with temper tantrums from children,\u2019 advised that they disengage.\u201d I think that is dead wrong! Plus, it shows that a teacher of children is not that wise and thus qualified to run the world.<\/p>\nChildren don\u2019t wield economic and political power like Donald Trump does, power that can ruin a lot of peoples\u2019 lives. Demagogues must be opposed, not disengaged. The saving grace of this country is that we can vote them out of office. That is the ultimate engagement. But it will not happen if people don\u2019t demand ethical behavior from their elected representatives. Evil prevails when good people do nothing. Yes, character does matter. If it didn\u2019t, the God of the Bible would not have had his prophets rebuking kings. I think we need more John Brennans, and it should start with the president\u2019s own party\u2013Republican members of Congress.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
