$\"\"$ <\/a>President Donald Trump made some moon talk yesterday by tweeting, \u201cFor all the money we are spending, NASA should NOT be talking about going to the Moon \u2013 We did that 50 years ago. They should be focused on the much bigger things we are doing, including Mars (of which the Moon is a part), Defense and Science!\u201d<\/p>\n

That is another incoherent message for the president, which he has been doing more of lately. Is Trump losing it mentally? Such things make you wonder.<\/p>\n

$\"\"$ <\/a>President Trump had tweeted just last month that he was adding an extra $1.6 billion to NASA\u2019s budget \u201cso that we can return to Space in a BIG WAY! Under my Administration, we are restoring @NASA to greatness and we are going back to the Moon, then Mars.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, yesterday\u2019s Trump message about the moon and Mars seems to contradict his message tweeted about these two celestial bodies just a month ago. But what did Trump mean about \u201cMars (of which the Moon is a part)\u201d? Does he believe our moon orbits around Mars? This statement looks like it came from Looney Tunes.<\/p>\n

Earlier Friday, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said in a speech to the International Space Development in Washington, DC, \u201cthe very first space policy directive of the president said, \u2018We\u2019re going to go back to the moon.'\u201d Bridenstine explained that this time NASA is going to the moon, and \u201cwe\u2019re going to stay.\u201d Indeed, they are going to do that for multiple reasons, and one is in order to go to Mars.<\/p>\n

Was President Trump alerted to Bridenstine\u2019s comment right after he made it, and that is why Trump soon tweeted about Mars and the moon\u2013to make him look better?<\/p>\n

One of the reasons NASA is going to the moon is that its previously-announced plans for going to Mars involves that spaceship originally launching from the moon, not earth, since it will be easier to do. The main advantage to doing this is that the space vehicle will not have to overcome earth\u2019s strong gravity compared to the moon\u2019s weak gravity. Just think of our astronauts bouncing around on the moon decades ago like they were jumping on a trampoline.<\/p>\n

A spaceship going to far-away Mars will have to have much fuel to reach that red planet. And the more fuel, the heavier the spaceship. The heavier the spaceship is, the more thrusting power it requires for liftoff. Therefore, conserving fuel will be a prime objective in going to Mars. Trump should know about this. But it appears he doesn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Is it because they haven\u2019t told him about it on Fox News? Whoops! He doesn\u2019t listen much to his governmental agencies, or read what they say, especially intelligence.<\/p>\n
