I had breakfast with my Aunt Minnie yesterday at a 1950\u2019s style diner in McKinney, Texas. Aunt Minnie is a recent widow in her mid 70\u2019s. She now lives in Pennsylvania but is in Texas on a road trip to see her siblings and nieces and nephews. In her rental car with her navigation system programmed, she is finding her way around and having a grand adventure.\u00a0 Over our grits, eggs and biscuits, she\u00a0 complained about her recent picture taken by Olan Mills for her church directory back in Pennsylvania. \u201cThey airbrushed out all my wrinkles.I looked 30 years younger!\u201d So I called them to complain.<\/p>\n

The woman at Olan Mills apologized. \u201cWe have some new airbrush folks. They\u2019ve been going a little too far lately. Would you like your wrinkles back?\u201d<\/p>\n

So Aunt Minnie got her wrinkles back at no additional charge. That\u2019s some pretty good customer service.<\/p>\n

Iwould like to have a speaking part<\/span><\/p>\n

I was talking with a friend who is a pastor at a church in Dallas. She told me\u00a0of an experience she had recently of baptizing a precocious\u00a06 year old girl named Emily.<\/p>\n

My pastor friend was talking with Emily and her family before the service, walking them throught the ritual so they\u2019d know what to expect. She felt a\u00a0tug on her robe. She looked down.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cWhat is it, Emily?\u201d \u201cPastor,\u201d Emily said politely, \u201cI would like to have a speaking part.\u201d<\/p>\n

Emily is either a future actress or preacher. Or maybe just an about-to-be-baptized Christian who realizes that faithful discipleship will involve\u00a0taking on\u00a0\u00a0\u201ca speaking part.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
