Being a priest without a good sense of humor is an unbearable task. \u00a0Being a Christian without exuding joy is a flaw. \u00a0A priest said to me some years ago, \u201cremember we are a religion of redemption, we are a religion of joy. \u00a0We live rejoicing always in the great things Christ has done.\u201d\n
For several years I have been a fan of comedian Stephen Colbert, host of Comedy Central\u2019s The Colbert Report<\/i>. \u00a0When I heard he and Cardinal Dolan would host an event at Fordham University on humor, I was intrigued. \u00a0Colbert is a practicing Catholic who teaches Sunday school. \u00a0At the event last night he called the Church the \u201cinfallible sign of the presence of God.\u201d \u00a0He also said, \u201cI love my church \u2013 warts and all.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
