{"id":462,"date":"2012-02-05T16:21:00","date_gmt":"2012-02-05T16:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/admin.patheos.com\/blogs\/labmind\/2012\/02\/the-lord-heals-the-brokenhearted.html"},"modified":"2012-02-05T16:21:00","modified_gmt":"2012-02-05T16:21:00","slug":"the-lord-heals-the-brokenhearted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/labmind\/2012\/02\/the-lord-heals-the-brokenhearted.html","title":{"rendered":"The Lord heals the brokenhearted"},"content":{"rendered":"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><head><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><\/head><body><p>When the trials and crosses of life become overwhelming, many turn away from God. \u00a0Consciously or unconsciously, they blame God for their misfortune, or blame His inaction to remedy it. \u00a0After the death of a loved one, spouses and other family members may stop going to Mass. \u00a0After experiencing an unanswered prayer or not receiving a desired healing, some dismiss prayer as wishful thinking. \u00a0Due to the inability to marry in the Church, some distance themselves completely from God.<\/p>\n<p>The experience of being brokenhearted as a result of life\u2019s trials and crosses occurs in every heart; and usually more than once. \u00a0In Psalm 147, which will be proclaimed this upcoming 5th Sunday of Ordinary time, God encourages us in those moments of trial. \u00a0\u201cPraise the Lord who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. \u00a0He tells the number of the stars; he calls each by name. \u00a0The Lord sustains the lowly; the wicked he casts to the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rather than turning away from God when facing life\u2019s trials and crosses, we must engage God even more. \u00a0We must follow Jesus\u2019 command to pick up our cross and follow Him. \u00a0When brokenhearted, we must trust that we will find healing and consolation in Him alone. \u00a0God wants to heal our broken hearts, not rub salt into our wounds.<\/p>\n<p>Poor Job suffered imaginable tragedy in his life, yet he persevered in his faith. \u00a0He kept the faith, and all things turned for good because He loved God. \u00a0God never disappoints, all in His time and all in His will.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When the trials and crosses of life become overwhelming, many turn away from God. \u00a0Consciously or unconsciously, they blame God for their misfortune, or blame His inaction to remedy it. \u00a0After the death of a loved one, spouses and other family members may stop going to Mass. \u00a0After experiencing an unanswered prayer or not receiving [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2533,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-462","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.1 -
