I find all the hype about the new confession app very surprising. I read two online articles about it yesterday, heard about it on the radio, and this morning I was shocked to see it on the front page of the local newspaper. Perhaps the most surprising thing of all is that the news coverage of this new app is very positive.<\/p>\n

I keep asking myself now, why the hype? Even though I haven\u2019t seen the app at work, it seems to function like a traditional examination of conscience you find at any parish, devotional booklet or the internet<\/span>. It has basic questions that help you examine your conscience before going to confession and guidance on how to go to confession. It is nothing extraordinary. It is nothing new.
The recent articles treat it in a way that someone could believe this new app has invented the idea of an examination of conscience!<\/p>\n

The hype can only come from the medium, that the examination of conscience can now be accessed as an app. This is a very good thing, yet I find it amazing that the media finds it so surprising. Perhaps it goes against their belief that the Church is \u201cbehind the times\u201d or \u201cout of touch with the modern world\u201d so they are intrigued<\/span>.<\/p>\n

This new app will be beneficial for many as they prepare for confession, and is being beneficial for the Church as the media provides some \u201cfree advertising\u201d for this powerful sacrament. I find the timing perfect for my parish since my pastor and I just finished a three-week series on this sacrament during our Sunday homilies and have begun offering the sacrament more often during the week.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
