A recent poll of 3,389 randomly selected Americans show 38% believe President Trump is about to invade Iraq.
The poll was conducted in the wake of the New York Times report Trump greenlit the bombing of specific targets in Iran only to abort the mission in its earliest stages.
WASHINGTON — President Trump approved military strikes against Iran in retaliation for downing an American surveillance drone, but pulled back from launching them on Thursday night after a day of escalating tensions.
As late as 7 p.m., military and diplomatic officials were expecting a strike, after intense discussions and debate at the White House among the president’s top national security officials and congressional leaders, according to multiple senior administration officials involved in or briefed on the deliberations.
Exploring The Poll Data
While 38% of Americans believe the US is about to invade Iraq, digging into the data illuminates the differences between GOP voters and Democrats:
- 78% of Republicans think the invasion of Iraq is imminent. Most of them rationalize the invasion by saying Iraq still needs to pay for Osama bin Laden launching the 9/11 attack from Iraqi soil.
- Most Democrats answering the poll understand Iraq and Iran are two different things. One Democrat reports Elizabeth Warren should do away with that stupid campaign to have a beer with one of her supporters because it makes her look like the geeky kid in class desperately trying to buy a friend.
- 100% Trump supporters don’t care who Trump bombs as long as he keeps Obamacare from interfering with the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Iraq Sends A Letter
The Iraqi government sent an open letter to the US people reminding them Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11. The letter is appearing in major US newspapers today.
The Iraqi government is also putting an ad on FOX News in order to inform President Trump Iraq has been ‘freedomed’ (invaded) twice by the United States of America. Iran is the new and sexy target.
