<\/p>
A couple of interesting numerical patterns in Luke: <\/p>\n
First, in Luke 18:31-34, Jesus predicts His coming suffering and death in this way: <\/p>\n
[The Son of Man] will be <\/p>\n
1) delivered to the Gentiles
2) mocked
3) mistreated
4) spit upon
5) scourged
6) killed <\/p>\n
But when the Gentiles have done their worst, and fulfilled their sixfold attack on the Son (six being the number of man), a seventh follows: <\/p>\n
7) and the third day He will rise again. <\/p>\n
The Son of Man, Last Adam, will move past the day of man into a new sabbath. <\/p>\n
And here\u2019s another pattern in 20:46-47, where Jesus is warning His disciples about the scribes who like to <\/p>\n
1) walk around in long robes
2) love respectful greetings in the market places
3) [love] chief seats in the synagogues
4) [love] places of honor at banquets
5) devour widows\u2019 houses
6) and for appearance\u2019s sake offer long prayers. <\/p>\n
Here the seventh clause, the punch line, is not a Sabbatical resurrection but a Sabbatical judgment: <\/p>\n
