There is the love of the sinful woman, who humbles herself before the Lord; but first there is the merciful love of Jesus for her, which pushes her to approach. Her cry of repentance and joy washes the feet of the Master, and her hair dries them with gratitude\u2026 and she adores Jesus because she feels that in Him there is mercy and not condemnation. Thanks to Jesus, God casts her many sins away behind Him, He remembers them no more (cf. Is 43:25). For her, a new season now begins; she is reborn in love, to a new life. \u2013 Pope Francis\u2019 Announcement of the Year of Mercy, March 13, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

These words of Pope Francis\u2019 paint an accurate picture of my life after divorce. For about two years after my husband left, I sought healing from my pain in the world, the \u201cculture of divorce\u201d as I call it. The world of rebellion, self-indulgence, vanity and pride that leads to nothing but more pain and misery. God never left my side during my \u201clost\u201d years\u00a0but instead, was always gently calling me back to him, ready to forgive all my sins and create me as a new creature in him.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d like to share my story with you in case you, or someone you know, is struggling in this way due to\u00a0experiencing divorce and so I present to you this podcast from Kristine Franklin, aka CatholicGrandma.Com<\/a>, who has been diligently interviewing people for her Mercy Unwrapped<\/a><\/em> podcasts.<\/p>\n

In this podcast, I share my personal story of struggle with trying to find healing after divorce, and discuss some of the specific steps I took to break away from that culture of divorce, embrace my faith and find true and lasting healing from my pain.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m grateful to Kris for giving me the opportunity to share this with you because I know there are so many people going through a divorce and feeling alone. Divorce brings with it a tremendous amount of guilt and shame, regardless of the role one played in the breakup of the marriage. It\u2019s so important for us to understand that as long as we are alive and repentant, God will forgive everything and anything. All we need to do is come to him with an open heart.<\/p>\n
