NEW WORLD<\/em>\u2018S NEW RAVE<\/span>
\nAdam Walter joins me and the rest who were swept away by Terrence Malick\u2019s The New World<\/em>:<\/a><\/p>\n

Great, sweeping, lyrical shots of the natural world. A passionate but respectful infatuation between the camera\u2019s eye and the lovely face of a young beauty we\u2019ve never seen before. Ever-climbing, harmonious waves of symphonic delicacy. And a powerful, labyrinthine mood built of images that court the eye rather than assail it. These are just a few of the pleasures offered by The New World<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Something to realize, right from the start, about Terrence Malick\u2019s new film is that he\u2019s telling his story on an abstracted plane and by way of the mythological mode. If just hearing that gives you a headache, then maybe this isn\u2019t the movie for you. Otherwise, you\u2019re in for a real treat.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
