\nYOU\u2019VE PROBABLY HEARD\u2026 CHRIS PENN IS GONE<\/span>
\nThis news<\/a> was, needless to say, a saddening surprise. Penn was a very different actor than his brother Sean, but the man could grab your attention and hold it. He had a volatile energy that was rarely employed to its full potential. <\/span><\/p>\n

PARADISE NOW<\/em> REVIEW: FREDERICA MATTHEWES-GREEN<\/span>
\nI\u2019ve had the privilege of meeting Frederica Matthewes-Green, and what an approachable and gracious character she is. Her reviews are unpredictable and interesting, and unfortunately they don\u2019t appear frequently enough. I\u2019m glad to see she\u2019s offering perspective on<\/a> the much-celebrated Paradise Now<\/em>\u2026.<\/span><\/p>\n

After I wrote the review I saw an interview with the director in which he commented on a scene before the day of the planned bombing, in which the conspirators have dinner. There\u2019s a held frame in which the characters are posed like DaVinci\u2019s Last Supper. I thought \u201cthat makes no sense at all\u201d \u2014 what would it be referring to?<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In the interview the director said that it was an intentional reference to Christ, and to the Cross: that Christian\u2019s understand that you can win a victory through dying in such a way that you take your enemy with you. I thought that was the strangest misunderstanding of Christian doctrine I\u2019d ever heard.<\/p>\n

But as I thought about it I realized that\u2026<\/p>\n

DA VINCI<\/em> NOT UP TO CODE<\/span>
\nThis is hardly news, but here\u2019s a detailed accounting<\/a> of the problems with The Da Vinci <\/em>Code<\/em>. And please don\u2019t bother responding by saying \u201cIt\u2019s just a work of fiction!\u201d because such responses have become necessary due to the amount of people who are naively accepting this novel as truth.
