If you haven\u2019t seen Yi-Yi (A One and a Two),<\/em> you\u2019re in for a treat.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been out on DVD before, but not like this. The full Criterion treatment has arrived, and I encourage you to check it out as soon as you can. Beautifully filmed, poetic, funny, unpredictable, with a cast of characters as large and memorable as the cast of Magnolia<\/em>, it is one of those films that seems to capture all of life within its 2 1\/2-hour span. This is the only Edward Yang film I\u2019ve seen, but I\u2019m eager to see more.<\/p>\n

At Ain\u2019t It Cool News, Moriarty<\/a> first notes that Yi Yi<\/a> has got a \u201cgreat cover for a great film\u201d and, in defiance of the site\u2019s reputation for fan boy priorities, he calls the film itself \u201ca masterpiece of minimalism.\u201d Cemile Kavountzis<\/a> of Entertainment Weekly finds Yi Yi (A One and a Two) (to give its full title) to be \u201ca moving reflection on the everyday snapshots, both literally and metaphorically, that capture life\u2019s sometimes blurred three-dimensional complexity.\u201d And David Cornelius<\/a> at DVD Talk says that Yi Yi \u201cis a patient movie, and it shares its patience with its characters.\u201d Cornelius also finds the transfer a \u201cstunning improvement\u201d over the Winstar disc<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
