Oprah just picked<\/a> The Road<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Wow. That\u2019s gutsy. The Road<\/em> is a dark, dark, dark post-apocalyptic work, from all that I\u2019ve read about it. (Check out Adam Walter\u2019s reaction<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

I just finished reading McCarthy\u2019s No Country for Old Men<\/em>, which is the subject of the next Coen Brothers film. And I kept thinking, all the way through, \u201cThis could have been written by the Coen Brothers. This feels custom-made to be the third and concluding chapter in the trilogy that begins with Blood Simple <\/em>and Fargo.\u201d <\/em>Right down to the dialogue between the husband and wife whose marriage is the center of the story, you can just hear the Coens\u2019 personality bleeding through.<\/p>\n

Oh, and speaking of blood\u2026 yikes.<\/p>\n

So I can\u2019t wait for the film. And I\u2019ve already ordered McCarthy\u2019s The Road <\/em>at the local library. This will be the first time I\u2019ve read an \u201cOprah book\u201d along with the rest of Oprah\u2019s nation.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
