\u201cThe book had a huge impact on me, it affected me more deeply and more profoundly than almost anything I\u2019ve ever read,\u201d Mr. Hillcoat said. \u201cThat\u2019s partly because I\u2019m a father of a gorgeous 6-year-old boy\u201d and mindful of what\u2019s happening in the world.<\/p>\n
Growing up in Canada in the 1970s, the native Australian worried nuclear war was inevitable.<\/p>\n
\u201cQuite seriously, I never even thought I\u2019d get to the age of 40 as a kid, as a teenager at least,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
