And he finds them making some rather dubious claims.<\/p>\n

Unlike presidential candidates, the films\u2019 producer, Mark Johnson, doesn\u2019t even want to talk about change \u2026 at least when it comes to Narnia.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve produced a lot of movies based on books,\u201d he said, speaking at a New York press event with other Narnia filmmakers. Citing titles from The Natural to The Notebook, Johnson said, \u201cWe made big changes in all of those in order to adapt them to film. It\u2019s clear with The Chronicles of Narnia that you just can\u2019t tamper with them that way. They\u2019re too important to too many people. They are in many ways written almost filmicly. I think the themes and just the world of Narnia \u2026 you tamper with it, you make changes at your own risk.\u201d<\/p>\n

Is this spin? Well, yes. The fact is both films \u201ctamper\u201d with the books \u2026 Prince Caspian even more than the first film\u2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I can\u2019t wait to read Greydanus\u2019s review of the film. Nobody I\u2019ve read thought more carefully about the deviations of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe<\/em>, changes that weakened the character of Aslan considerably.<\/p>\n

Alas, right now only subscribers can read that piece<\/a>, which is called \u201cLewis Lite.\u201d The intriguing teaser reads \u201cPrince Caspian<\/em> Is Inspired by the Second Narnia Book but Fails to Adapt It.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

UPDATE: Meanwhile, at the C.S. Lewis blog<\/strong><\/a>, (via The Hogs Head<\/a>) Dr. Michael Ward<\/strong> interprets some of what Prince Caspian<\/em> (the book!) is all about.
