With the breaking news<\/a> that Steven Spielberg is going to turn the children\u2019s book War Horse<\/em> into a big-screen motion picture, I\u2019m thinking back on my favorite movie horses. <\/p>\n

I\u2019m still not sure anything beats the majesty of The Black Stallion<\/em>. There was something magical about that horse, as captured by cinematographer Caleb Deschanel \u2013 father of the lovely and talented Zooey (She and Him) and Emily (\u201cBones\u201d) Deschanel, and husband to Mary Jo (\u201cTwin Peaks\u201d).<\/p>\n

White Mane<\/em> is a remarkable film about a horse, but it becomes distracting that the horse is played by horses of differing stature.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m sure somebody\u2019s gonna say Seabiscuit<\/em>, but I remember the people from that movie more than the horse.<\/p>\n
