I was asked by \u00fcber blogger and #1 selling recording artist Carlos Whittaker<\/a>\u00a0(Twitter: @loswhit) to do a video response to an email he received from a friend of his who is a pastor that \u2018came out\u2019 (even though he is celibate because of a belief in a traditional interpretation of Scripture) and was fired because of it! In the email to Carlos, this friend wondered out loud:<\/p>\n

Why can people be fat and gluttons, which are sins,\u00a0and serve in a church and I can\u2019t?<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

Great question. Here is my video repsonse to Carlos (which he will post on his blog this evening), his audience, and the over 300 people who commented on that question in the post.<\/p>\n

You all who read my blog, I know you know I can talk for days about this stuff. And it\u2019s hard to be introduced to a new audience in a short, one-time video. So my response was focused more on some countercultural principles of engagement and what it means to be a Christ-one in relation to this politically, socially and theologically divisive topic. I threw in the mix a bold statement at the beginning of the video, and I hope I don\u2019t lose too many of the folks watching it because I get all worked-up about half way through to really drive my point home! We\u2019ll see what happens\u2026<\/p>\n

Thoughts on what I said or experiences you\u2019ve had with such things?<\/p>\n

UPDATE<\/strong>: Some folks over at Carlos\u2019 blog need to know what it means to understand this bridge building movement; and understand that there are many of us already out there doing this work. Everytime I guest post on someone else\u2019s blog\u00a0I am\u00a0always quickly reminded how unqiue and honored we in this movement and on this blog actually are. I\u2019m so blessed to have you all in my life fighting to live our life and faith in a new path; not fighting to keep our life and our faith in the exact same place out of fear or comfort<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0Feel free to chime in if you want<\/a>.<\/p>\n
