We think about child marriage as something that happens in other countries, but not here. I've generally thought of it that way too. I grew up in a conservative evangelical\/fundamentalist homeschool community where everyone talked about courtship as the ideal but no one actually courted before attaining adulthood. But recently I've been hearing other stories, stories of girls courting at 14 or marrying at 16 in other communities. This isn't the mainstream for these communities, but it does happen."}
