A discussion in this morning\u2019s comment section, which revolved around whether it was appropriate to have powdered sugar or ketchup on french toast, has inspired me to put up a post solely for the purposes of sharing recipes and discussing food. \u00a0I\u2019m putting a \u201cchatter\u201d tag on this post so that it can be found easily through the chatter option on the site menu.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ll start by sharing a recipe I\u2019ve used for years and years.<\/p>\n
Quick Biscuits<\/strong><\/p>\n
6 cups flour
\n1 cup sugar
\n<\/span>3 tbsp baking powder
\n<\/span>3 tsp salt
\n1 to 2 sticks of butter
\nMilk<\/span><\/p>\nMix the dry ingredients, then cut in the butter. Add milk until it\u2019s the right consistency. Use a spoon to plop balls of dough onto a greased baking sheet or role the dough out and cut it into triangles. Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes or until done. Serve with jam, honey, butter, or strawberries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
When I was about 16, a missionary lady from our church taught me this recipe while she was on furlough. You\u2019ll want to adjust the ingredients down a bit, as it is clearly geared towards serving the huge family I grew up in. I still make the biscuits today when I need a quick breakfast and am out of cereal and low on time.<\/p>\n
