2016. What a year! There were moments when I felt blogging was the only way I could pour out my distress and anger at what I saw happening around me, and other moments when I wanted to close my computer and turn off the internet forever.<\/p>\n

Below are my top ten most-read posts of 2016, in reverse order. Most were written in 2016, but a few are old favorites from past years that continue to be widely read.<\/p>\n

1o. Women Are Already Being Prosecuted for Having Abortions<\/a>. This is\u00a0a very, very serious problem, and one we need to draw more attention to.<\/p>\n

9. Norway\u2019s Bodnariu Children Removed over Child Abuse,\u00a0Not Christian Indoctrination<\/a>. This story has a lot to\u00a0tell us about the maintenance of the\u00a0evangelical persecution narrative and the creation of internet myths.<\/p>\n

8. Christian Homeschool Leader Announces Conference for Arranging Child Marriages<\/a>. Why are some conservative religious communities\u00a0so fixated on marrying off their children at a young age? The answer isn\u2019t pretty.<\/p>\n

7. What No One Said about Rey (Star Wars Spoilers!)<\/a>. Last year\u2019s Star Wars reboot reflected interesting changes in the public performance of gender.<\/p>\n

6. The Problem with Gender Roles<\/a>. That this post from 2011 has become a time-tested favorite continues to surprise me, but it has become a staple nonetheless.<\/p>\n

5. Nagmeh Abedini, Franklin Graham, and the Silencing of Evangelical Abuse Victims<\/a>. I found this story profoundly troubling when it surfaced last year, and I\u2019m glad it gained\u00a0attention. Unfortunately, the leadership refuses to budge.<\/p>\n

4. How I Lost\u00a0Faith\u00a0in the Pro-Life Movement<\/a>. This 2011 post is my all-time most read post, and it\u2019s just as relevant today as it was five years ago.<\/p>\n

3. No, Minecraft Does Not Have a Sex Mod<\/a>. This was one internet rumor I couldn\u2019t not rebut. I absolutely abhor misinformation.<\/p>\n

2. This Pro-Life Simone Biles Meme Gets It All Wrong<\/a>. I wish those in the pro-life movementwould put real\u00a0effort into improving the lives of children.<\/p>\n

1. Josh Harris Apologizes<\/a>. Unfortunately, the famous\u00a0purity culture advocate\u2019s\u00a0apology still leaves much to be desired.<\/p>\n

What will 2017 bring? If the same writers are in charge of 2017 that wrote 2016, things could get only worse. But I refuse to be so pessimistic. This election brought out a lot of ugliness, but it also\u00a0woke a lot of people up to the continuing problems\u00a0our country faces. Along with the hatred, I saw renewed support for women\u2019s rights and immigrant rights, refugee advocacy and religious minorities. All is not over.<\/p>\n

If Obama was A New Hope<\/em> and Trump is The Empire Strikes Back<\/em>, we need to organize and prepare the way for\u00a0The Return of the Jedi<\/em>.<\/p>\n
