<\/h3>\n<\/h3>\nJust watched the latest reboot of Marvel Studios<\/a>, \u201cThe Fantastic Four: First Steps.<\/a>\u201d As a Fantastic Four fan since childhood, I anxiously awaited the release of this movie. Marvel called it, \u201cThe World\u2019s Greatest Comic Magazine,\u201d and I wholeheartedly agree. Having traveled through the religious multiverse through the vessel of Christianity for much of my life \u2013 and having changed ships into agnostic antitheism with heavy gnostic seasoning, I viewed this rendition of the Fantastic Four through a different but exciting lens.<\/p>\n For the record, Aaron Tomlinson<\/a> and I discussed this in the latest episode of \u201cThe Gnostic Agnostics.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n The Marvel Cinematic Universe has officially gone metaphysical!<\/p>\n As timelines unravel and sacred geometry becomes plot device, superhero storytelling is starting to echo something ancient\u2014something esoteric, mystical, and deeply spiritual. Something Gnostic.<\/p>\n And Marvel\u2019s Fantastic Four<\/em> reboot? It\u2019s not just superhero origin\u2014it\u2019s cosmic initiation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n This is a mythic tale about divine sparks trapped in flawed bodies, false gods feeding on creation, and a spiritual awakening that begins with trauma and ends in transcendent clarity.<\/p>\n With the inclusion of Galactus<\/strong>, Shalla-Bal<\/strong> (the Silver Surfer reimagined as a feminine archetype), Victor Von Doom<\/strong>, and Franklin Richards<\/strong>, the film boldly steps into a Gnostic mythos\u2014and dares to make meaning where other blockbusters settle for explosions.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n To understand what\u2019s really going on, we need to talk Gnostic cosmology<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In Gnostic thought:<\/p>\n The Fantastic Four<\/em> isn\u2019t just a team. They\u2019re a metaphor for the parts of the soul, torn by illusion and finally made whole.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Each of the Four embodies a path through the Gnostic labyrinth. They are not superheroes\u2014they are archetypal energies<\/strong> undergoing awakening.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Johnny, the Human Torch<\/strong>, doesn\u2019t just light up\u2014he burns. He embodies the divine spark<\/strong> (pneuma<\/em>) trying to break free of containment.<\/p>\n His fire is raw and reactive at first\u2014flaring with ego, youth, and bravado. But throughout the film, we watch Johnny\u2019s spark evolve from chaotic flame to illuminating presence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n He learns to become light without destruction<\/strong>. He moves from recklessness to radiance, from heat to clarity. Johnny\u2019s arc is the spiritual awakening of energy itself\u2014untamed fire refined by purpose.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Ben becomes The Thing<\/strong>\u2014a body made of stone. He is the embodiment of material entrapment<\/strong>, the soul trapped in matter, the hylic self. He never asked for his mutation, just as Gnostic souls never asked to be thrown into the flawed world.<\/p>\n His transformation is a metaphor for the trauma of incarnation.<\/p>\n But Ben is not just tragic\u2014he\u2019s deeply human<\/strong>. His path is about reconciling strength and sensitivity. He is the hylic shell that learns to feel again. His spiritual arc is not one of escape, but of dignity<\/strong>. He finds his spark not by shedding the stone\u2014but by loving what lives inside it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Reed, aka Mr. Fantastic<\/strong>, stretches his body infinitely\u2014but it\u2019s his mind<\/strong> that reaches too far. He is the Gnostic nous<\/em>\u2014the rational intellect that tries to systematize the cosmos.<\/p>\n In Reed, we see both the potential and the peril of intellect. He believes knowledge can save everyone. But knowledge without wisdom<\/strong> becomes control.<\/p>\n Reed\u2019s awakening comes when he lets go of the illusion that everything must make sense. He learns to trust the unknown<\/strong>, to surrender to the mystery. Only then does he stop stretching toward God and start embodying gnosis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n And then there is Sue Storm<\/strong>, the Invisible Woman<\/strong>, the beating heart of this myth.<\/p>\n In Gnostic thought, Sophia<\/strong> (Greek for Wisdom) is the divine feminine exiled from the Pleroma. She gives birth to the Demiurge through an act of solitary creation and is punished for reaching without permission. Sue channels this myth with sublime power.<\/p>\n Her invisibility is not a limitation\u2014it\u2019s a metaphor for how feminine wisdom is hidden, dismissed, and underestimated.<\/p>\n But Sue is not just a mother, not just a sister, not just \u201cReed\u2019s wife.\u201d She is a strategist<\/strong>, a diplomat<\/strong>, and the emotional glue<\/strong> of the team.<\/p>\n She negotiates with enemies. She builds consensus within the team. She protects through force fields and through presence. And when the world faces annihilation, she leads<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Sue doesn\u2019t need validation. She is<\/em> the validation\u2014the presence that transforms fear into fortitude. In her, Sophia rises\u2014not as a victim, but as a visionary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Their transformation occurs in the Quantum Realm<\/strong>, a dimension of entropy and paradox.<\/p>\n In Gnostic terms, this is Kenoma<\/strong>\u2014the Void. It\u2019s the holographic false world beneath the real world. The Quantum Realm mimics the Pleroma, but lacks truth. It changes those who enter. It wounds before it awakens.<\/p>\n From this realm, the Four emerge not merely as altered beings\u2014but as initiated souls<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n In this version of the myth, Galactus\u2019s herald is not the Silver Surfer, but Shalla-Bal<\/strong>\u2014a reimagined feminine archetype<\/strong> of the Logos in exile.<\/p>\n Shalla-Bal is radiant and tragic. Her silver skin reflects light, but she herself is chained to a hunger she does not understand. She traverses galaxies to prepare worlds for death\u2014but inside her, something resists.<\/p>\n Like Sophia, she remembers what she forgot<\/em>. Through her encounter with Sue\u2014a meeting of exiled wisdoms\u2014she awakens. Sue doesn\u2019t defeat her; she sees her<\/strong>. And in that act of seeing, Shalla-Bal begins to reclaim her identity.<\/p>\n She stops being a herald of death and becomes a witness to the real<\/strong>.<\/p>\n She breaks the cycle by remembering the light she was forced to reflect<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Galactus<\/strong> is not a villain. He is a false god<\/strong>\u2014the embodiment of the Demiurge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n He believes himself to be necessary. He devours planets not out of hatred, but as a function of his existence. He is entropy dressed in cosmic robes. He says he brings balance, but in truth, he enforces obedience<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Galactus doesn\u2019t see himself as wrong\u2014he sees himself as inevitable.<\/p>\n And that is what makes him dangerous.<\/p>\n In Gnostic myth, the Demiurge is blind. He creates worlds thinking himself divine. Galactus is this blindness personified\u2014so large that he cannot see his own absence of light.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Then there is Victor Von Doom<\/strong>.<\/p>\n (Spoiler alert: Von Doom\u2019s presence in the film is limited but he\u2019s an essential part of the Fantastic Four Arc, so I explicate his character here) <\/em><\/p>\n He is not just a rival to Reed. He is an Archon<\/strong>\u2014a shadow of the divine pretending to be the real thing.<\/p>\n Doom mimics godhood. He wears the trappings of sovereignty. But underneath the armor is insecurity<\/strong>, fear, and hunger.<\/p>\n He doesn\u2019t want to defeat the Fantastic Four \u2014 he wants the respect and adoration they enjoy.<\/p>\n Doom\u2019s path is the dark mirror of gnosis: control instead of curiosity, dominance instead of awakening<\/strong>. Where Sue leads by consensus, Doom rules by force. Where Reed stretches to understand, Doom stretches to command.<\/p>\n In Gnostic terms, Doom is not just evil. He is deluded<\/strong>. And delusion, left unchecked, always becomes tyranny.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Franklin Richards, the child of Reed and Sue, is not a subplot\u2014he is the future of the myth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In the comics, Franklin creates universes. But symbolically, he is the Aeon<\/strong>\u2014the product of Nous and Sophia, of intellect and wisdom rejoined.<\/p>\n He is not just powerful. He is whole<\/em>.<\/p>\n And that\u2019s why Galactus fears him\u2014and Doom wants him.<\/p>\n Franklin doesn\u2019t fight. He remembers<\/em>. He doesn\u2019t destroy. He creates<\/em>. He doesn\u2019t serve anyone. He reveals everyone<\/em>.<\/p>\n He is the next age of gnosis.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The Four don\u2019t defeat Galactus with weapons. They don\u2019t destroy Doom with fists. They win through awareness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Reed relinquishes control. That truth\u2014spoken not with fear, but with knowing\u2014ends the illusion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Galactus, unmasked, retreats. \u00a0<\/p>\n This film isn\u2019t just about heroes.<\/p>\n It\u2019s about initiation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The Four are no longer test subjects. They are souls who remember<\/strong>. Shalla-Bal becomes not a herald of destruction, but a carrier of gnosis. Franklin is not the messiah\u2014but the message.<\/p>\n And Sue Storm, no longer just a support role, emerges as the spiritual anchor of the entire cosmology<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n You are not flesh alone.<\/p>\n You are fire, mind, protection, wisdom, and unbreakable love.<\/p>\n You are not here to obey.<\/p>\n You are here to remember.<\/p>\n The Demiurge may devour. The Archons may posture.<\/p>\n But the spark is still in you.<\/p>\n Faith is optional.<\/p>\n Curiosity is canon.
