I am in the middle of reading a book that should be read by every church leader: pastor, elder, deacon, director, lay leader, etc. The book is You Lost Me: Why Young Christians Are Leaving Church\u2026and Rethinking Faith<\/em><\/a> by David Kinnaman. In this book, Kinnaman explores in detail why Christians in their late teens and twenties are leaving church. Yet his is not one more \u201cblame the church\u201d book, of which there are already plenty. Kinnaman looks at broader cultural forces as well as the choices made by young adults. He also develops wise strategies for how the church can reconnect with young adults in a way that enriches their lives, the church, and the world.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I plan to put up a review of You Lost Me<\/em> fairly soon. But, in the meanwhile, I stumbled upon an excellent interview of Kinnaman<\/a>. It appears, ironically enough, at The High Calling<\/em><\/a>, a website that publishes my Daily Reflections. The interviewer, Charity Singleton, helps us begin to see the depth of Kinnaman\u2019s thinking.<\/p>\n

So, here are my recommendations:<\/p>\n

1. Read Singleton\u2019s interview of David Kinnaman<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2. Buy Kinnaman\u2019s book<\/a>.<\/p>\n
