The ad is titled “It’s Beautiful” and features the patriotic song America the Beautiful sung in English, Hindi, Arabic, and even Tagalog. Budweiser tried to make a statement on immigration but it kind of backfired

The beer company’s commercial “Born The Hard Way” retells the story of Adolphus Busch’s journey from Germany to America where he came to make great beer. When he steps of the boat after the treacherous journey, he’s greeted by angry Americans telling him to go back home and that he’s not welcome here. Because apparently, that’s how America treats all immigrants. I read that this year’s halftime was watched by more people than the actual game. But it was 84 Lumber’s ad that broke the Internet when viewers had to go online to see the rest of the commercial.

It’s a really well done commercial, and it’s very emotional — until you realize it’s actually encouraging illegal immigration.

A mother and her little girl walk across the hot Mexico desert. They have to borrow a bottle of water from other people making the same journey. The whole time, you see that a construction crew is working on something. It turns out; it’s Trump’s wall. The mother and daughter are defeated as they stand in its shadow. All this work to cross the border ILLEGALLY and now they can’t. Harrumph.

But then, 84 Lumber did them a solid and built a giant door — like the one on Noah’s ark — that isn’t locked, and they walk right through. The commercial ends with, “The will to succeed is always welcome here.”

Apparently, 84 Lumber is okay with law breakers. Maybe the company will set the standard and only hire illegal immigrants from this day forward. And maybe, just maybe, the CEO will open his mansion and allow illegal families to live in some of the extra rooms if he remembers to leave the gates open at the wall surrounding his house.

Dear advertisers, mocking a certain segment of society constantly is not the way to a unified nation.

[1

post-1996","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized

6 ads that made sure the Super Bowl was VERY political

{"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://www.patheos.com/blogs/markmeckler/2017/02/6-ads-made-sure-super-bowl-political/","url":"https://www.patheos.com/blogs/markmeckler/2017/02/6-ads-made-sure-super-bowl-political/","name":"6 ads that made sure the Super Bowl was VERY political","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://www.patheos.com/blogs/markmeckler/#website"},"datePublished":"2017-02-07T15:09:01+00:00","dateModified":"2017-02-07T15:12:19+00:00","author":{"@id":"https://www.patheos.com/blogs/markmeckler/#/schema/person/e95fc54d2a84068750f5d9a181cd2421"},"description":"Dear advertisers, mocking a certain segment of society constantly is not the way to a unified nation.","inLanguage":"en-US","potentialAction":[{"@type":"ReadAction","target":["https://www.patheos.com/blogs/markmeckler/2017/02/6-ads-made-sure-super-bowl-political/"]}]},{"@type":"WebSite","@id":"https://www.patheos.com/blogs/markmeckler/#website","url":"https://www.patheos.com/blogs/markmeckler/","name":"Mark Meckler","description":"","potentialAction":[{"@type":"SearchAction","target":{"@type":"EntryPoint","urlTemplate":"https://www.patheos.com/blogs/markmeckler/?s={search_term_string}"},"query-input":"required name=search_term_string"}],"inLanguage":"en-US"},{"@type":"Person","@id":"https://www.patheos.com/blogs/markmeckler/#/schema/person/e95fc54d2a84068750f5d9a181cd2421","name":"Mark Meckler","image":{"@type":"ImageObject","inLanguage":"en-US","@id":"https://www.patheos.com/blogs/markmeckler/#/schema/person/image/","url":"https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/cf71f8e44cbfd7951a4eb0173d2a8f27?s=96&d=identicon&r=g","contentUrl":"https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/cf71f8e44cbfd7951a4eb0173d2a8f27?s=96&d=identicon&r=g","caption":"Mark Meckler"},"description":"Mark is one of the nation’s most effective grassroots activists.
