In some states in the nation<\/a>, the science deniers apparently have more sway over lawmakers than others. For example:<\/p>\n

California\u2019s Senate passed a bill<\/a> to allow the state\u2019s residents to change their gender identity on their birth certificates and state IDs, including driver\u2019s licenses, to \u201cfemale, male, or non-binary.\u201d The bill is currently awaiting a vote in the state Assembly.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
But don\u2019t get too cocky, California. \u00a0New York and the District of Columbia have similar legislation\u2026 and in Oregon gender X is now a legal option on ID\u2019s:<\/p>\n

Oregon became the first state in U.S. history on Thursday to offer more than two gender options on identity documents, including driver\u2019s licenses, making it the first to legally recognize non-binary, intersex and agender people on ID cards.<\/p>\n
When the history-making rule \u2014 which the state Transportation Commission passed late Thursday afternoon \u2014 goes into effect on July 3, Oregon residents will have the option to choose among three gender categories when applying for driver\u2019s licenses or state ID cards: male, female and \u201cX\u201d for non-binary or unspecified.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
