In the messed up world of modern marriage, there\u2019s a new thing called\u00a0sologamy. According to Wikipedia, sologamy is, \u201cSelf-marriage \u2013\u00a0marriage by a person to oneself. It is known as a commitment that values self-love, and self-compassion. Supporters of the practice argue that it leads to a happier life.\u201d<\/p>\n
Call me a cynic, but I doubt this happiness claim. In fact, it seems like the saddest trend I\u2019ve ever heard of in my life. Instead of \u201cI thee wed,\u201d do the vows say \u201cI me wed<\/a>?\u201d<\/p>\n One 38 year old woman, Sophie Tanner, explains how she had this idea<\/a>:<\/p>\n \u201cI literally had the idea when I was lying in bed recovering from flu and a bad relationship,\u201d she remembers. \u201cEveryone celebrates getting together with someone and becoming married, but there\u2019s no milestone in society that celebrates escaping something awful or returning to your own happiness and contentment.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Yeah, the reason why we don\u2019t celebrate you is because we don\u2019t want to put a stamp of approval on your nutty sense of marriage.\u00a0 But as weird as this trend is, there\u2019s something even stranger.\u00a0 Tanner,\u00a0who \u201cmarried herself\u201d admits that she feels guilt after \u201ccheating on herself.\u201d<\/p>\n Um\u2026.?\u00a0 Here\u2019s the \u201cnews\u201d article reporting on this incident<\/a>:<\/p>\n Sophie Tanner, who tied the knot with herself in May 2015, revealed to host Amanda Holden that she had cheated on herself with Ruari Barrett, a polyamorist who is now also married to himself, reports\u00a0The Sun<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Richard Dawkins wasn\u2019t convinced about the practice:\u00a0Self-marriage: a narcissist\u2019s dream\u2026\u00a0Then there\u2019s threesome marriage.
