Some people just get it. Anyone from any political party or ideology can talk about self-governance, talk about what makes our country great, or talk about the principles that set America apart from every other government in the history of human civilization.<\/p>\n

People talk about these things all the time. Politicians give the same stale talking points. \u00a0But that\u2019s different from truly understanding the role of politics in our nation.<\/p>\n

Yet people from all sides seem to be looking for a politician and a president that can be a savior and change everything in their lives. This could not be further from what our Founders envisioned or from what truly makes America great.<\/p>\n

Dave Ramsey gets it. \u00a0The Federalist has more<\/a> about an epic rant that we would all do well to listen to:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ramsey said voters are misguided if they think a candidate can fix their lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no government program that\u2019s going to fix your life,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s no Republican that, if he gets elected, is going to become Jesus and there\u2019s no Democrat that, if they get elected, is going to be the Jesus in your life and give you everything you ever wanted.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an absolute lie,\u201d Ramsey said.\u00a0He also criticized\u00a0the rise of a victimhood mentality among Americans.<\/p>\n

Although he acknowledged racism, classism, and sexism are real problems that can hurt a person\u2019s chances at success, he explained the only way to overcome such obstacles is to not let yourself become a victim.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou get up off your butt; you\u2019re the hero of this story, you are not the victim in this story,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen people tell you that you\u2019re a victim and they have the solution, that makes them the hero. Do not let a politician, do not let a news anchor, become the hero in your story.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are the hero in your story,\u201d he said. \u201cYou are in charge of your destiny.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This is why we do the work we do at Citizens for Self-Governance and the Convention of States. These organizations and all my work is focused on letting the American people rule their own lives, solve the problems in their own neighborhoods, and truly make this nation land of the free, home of the brave, and standing athwart tyranny yelling, \u201cENOUGH!\u201d<\/p>\n
