The herd of conservative gun cultists have a new lying meme they are all repeating. You may have heard it: \u201cThe NRA has to be the only organization in the world that consistently gets blamed for crimes that its members did not commit.\u201d<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s reality: The NRA are accomplices to murder because they buy politicians whose job is to maintain the only legal regime in the world that absolutely assures that 35,000 people will be butchered by guns every single year, not to mention the 24 children who will be shot every day. They are absolutely to blame for this and everybody who repeats the lie you just read in the previous paragraph is an accomplice as well.<\/p>\n
If a pol votes to support easy access to abortion, every prolifer rightly says he is an accomplice to abortion and so are those who vote for him because they want that too. Indeed, so eager are prolifers to name accomplices to abortion that they not only blame the pols who vote to enable abortion, but even voters who vote for such politicians, not because they support abortion, but for some other reason. For the \u201cprolife\u201d zealot, all are guilty. All have, as the prolife slogan goes, \u201cblood on their hands\u201d.<\/p>\n
(Actually Catholic teaching, of course, disagrees with this last claim. As Cardinal Ratzinger points out: \u201cA Catholic would be guilty of formal cooperation in evil, and so unworthy to present himself for Holy Communion, if he were to deliberately vote for a candidate precisely because of the candidate\u2019s permissive stand on abortion and\/or euthanasia. When a Catholic does not share a candidate\u2019s stand in favour of abortion and\/or euthanasia, but votes for that candidate for other reasons, it is considered remote material cooperation, which can be permitted in the presence of proportionate reasons.<\/strong>\u201d So, for instance, if you know perfectly well that the lying grifter and unstable narcissist the GOP has nominated is going to refund PP five times and<\/em>\u00a0enable a cult of gun slaughter, cut off heating to poor people in the dead of winter, gut the Americans with Disabilities Act, commit treason with Russian election meddlers, and endanger the world with nuclear war, you can, in the attempt to reduce evil, reasonably vote for his opponent, who will only refund Planned Parenthood five times but not do all the other evils.)<\/p>\n The idea, in short, is that you cannot vote for evil, but you can vote to reduce<\/em> evil.<\/p>\n So when it comes to abortion, the Christianists get the idea of cooperating with evil and making access to the technology of abortion easily available by law as a Bad Thing. But the Gun Cult, so eager to see accomplices when it comes to abortion incessantly lies that pols who do all in their power to provide easy access to the technology of gun slaughter bear absolutely no responsibility when someone uses that easy access to slaughter.<\/p>\n It\u2019s an absolute lie. Trump and every other pol the NRA owns are<\/em> accomplices and butchers just as much as pols who vote to make access to abortion easy. And every member of the Gun Cult who supports them because they maintain that regime of slaughter which is unique among the civilized nations of the world are accomplices too. The NRA, like Catholics for a Free Choice, has blood on its hands and so does every member of the Christianist cult of lies who support and lie for them.<\/p>\n And the crowning grotesque lie is that those who see relationship, not opposition, between the victim of abortion and the victim of gunfire are routinely condemned by Christianists who routinely use the unborn as human shield for their labors to make sure that, in addition to helping continue our abortion regime, the Party of Trump also labors to protect our gun regime (and our prison regime, and the deportation of vets and innocent kids, and grinding the faces of the poor and the refugee, and capital punishment, and punishment of families for having \u201ctoo many\u201d children, and punishment of the disabled, and mockery of Gold Star families, POWs and the disabled, and the victimization of Trump\u2019s sexual assault victims\u2026).<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The herd of conservative gun cultists have a new lying meme they are all repeating.
