I repented, and Satan said, \u201cNot good
\nenough!\u201d Mocking me, he spat in my face,
\ncalled me liar, bore down on me and stood
\nover me, hissing out the threat, \u201cAbase
\nyourself! Crawl on your belly and, squirming,
\nhate what God has made and call yourself scum.
\nYou do not truly repent if \u2018vermin\u2019
\nyou do not name yourself and zero sum
\nall you are, annihilating your soul
\nin my malignant contempt for your heart.\u201d
\nBut Christ, from his cross, cried, \u201cNo! Be made whole!
\nIt is your sin I come to tear apart,
\nnot you. I bore the hatred of the crowd
