Where our hard hearts have took up stones to brain thee,
\nAnd missing this, most falsely did arraign thee;
\nOnly these stones in quiet entertain thee,
\nAnd order.<\/p>\n
And as of old, the law by heav\u2019nly art,
\nWas writ in stone; so thou, which also art
\nThe letter of the word, find\u2019st no fit heart
\nTo hold thee.<\/p>\n
Yet do we still persist as we began,
\nAnd so should perish, but that nothing can,
\nThough it be cold, hard, foul, from loving man
\nWithhold thee.<\/p>\n
