Mark, at the moment I\u2019m in Jinan, the capitol of Shandong province, and I am pleased to report that today I visited the main Catholic church in Jinan, and in it, ON PUBLIC DISPLAY was a framed picture of Pope Benedict. This is not an underground church, it is around 100 years old and it is the main public Catholic Church in the capitol city of Shandong. Pope Benedict\u2019s countenance is on its wall, unmolested. And a new plaster statue of BVM Mary stands in front of this church, in full view of the public.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Good to hear! May the Church in China prosper and grow! And may the Commies, ahem, wither away. Quickly.<\/p>\n
