A friend of mine is planning to divorce her husband. I asked if her husband was open to working to improve the situation. She replied, \u201cYou should ask if I\u2019m open to working to improve the situation.\u201d She says that the issues are entirely on her side, but she doesn\u2019t want to deal with it. She just wants out. She\u2019s only waiting for their tenth anniversary \u2013 about a year off \u2013 because this would allow her substantial financial benefits in terms of alimony and retirement. This would apparently come at the expense of her husband.<\/p>\n
I don\u2019t know her husband very well, but her complaint is that he is too boring for her. She wants something more exciting out of life. He provides a steady income so that she doesn\u2019t have to work. He spends a lot of time with his friends. I don\u2019t want to defend him as a model husband, but she has not complained to me of any injustice on his part. I know she was raised as a Christian, but neither she nor her husband practice any kind of religion or faith right now.<\/p>\n
In any case, the whole situation causes me immense sadness. Please pray for God\u2019s grace and healing and superabundant love to cover her and her husband. I have no idea what kind of resolution will come of this, but our Lord is wiser than I am and I\u2019m confident in his power to bring good out of this situation.<\/p>\n
