I don\u2019t know if I missed a post on the LCWR (I think that is right).\u00a0 I was a little put out to see buttons at mass a couple of weeks ago that say \u201cI stand with the sisters\u201d.\u00a0 Not because I stand with or against them,but because I don\u2019t believe mass is the place to make what feels like a political statement.\u00a0 Anyway, I have tried to do some research on the LCWR and have read Sr. Miriam\u2019s blog.\u00a0 What do you say on this issue?\u00a0 My friends outside the church have said that yet again the church is beating up on women, and our deacon gave a homily a few months ago that left me feeling that if I am a women who is content with \u201cmy place\u201d in the Catholic Church, there must be something wrong with me.\u00a0 Actually, it left me quite angry.\u00a0 I guess I am supposed to feel like the poor, oppressed, little woman.<\/p>\n

Tusend tak for your kind words.\u00a0 As to the nuns, I think the attempt to rein\u00a0them in\u00a0is long overdue and totally empathize with Rome\u2019s concerns and with my\u00a0poor suffering archbishop who is tasked with the thankless job of trying to deal with the crazy goddess-worshipping\u00a0rubbish still kept on life support in this particularly self-indulgent hothouse of Generation Narcissus failed religiosity.\u00a0\u00a0It is spectacularly dishonest to claim that the investigation is somehow a product of hostility to \u201cwomen\u201d. In fact, as is their custom, Rome has take about 20 year too long to respond to this problem out of the very typical reluctance Rome feels to boss people around.\u00a0 The hope was that the loony goddess crap, the witchery, the nutty\u00a0New Age nonsense and all the rest of it would be handled locally in true subsidiary fashion.\u00a0\u00a0Didn\u2019t happen\u2013because these nuns in fact wield an\u00a0awful lot of power as they whine about\u00a0\u201cdisempowerment\u201d and their bishops cringe.\u00a0\u00a0So finally Rome is responding.\u00a0 What will eventually happen is simply this: These nuns will get old and die and leave no spiritual daughters to carry on their boring heretical legacy.\u00a0 Meanwhile, young new orders of nuns who actually believe the gospel will grow and flourish because orthodoxy is interesting and beautiful and heresy is old and busted\u2013and booooooring.\u00a0 Give me a Sr. Miriam Heidland, a Mother Teresa, or a Nashville Dominican any day.\u00a0 Smart, competent, in charge, orthodox and endlessly interesting.\u00a0 Too busy serving Jesus with authority and power to blather about \u201cfeeling disempowered.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
