Of course, the question is whether he really willing to embrace the Church\u2019s teaching where it is unpopular with the base. But it\u2019s still a very promsing sign that a conservatism that actually conserves, as well as caring about the weak, might emerge from the self-immolation of the Thing that Used to be Conservatism. Lord, heal our country so that your Church can be free to grow and not be persecuted.
