This looks intriguing<\/a>:<\/p>\n NASA\u2019s Mars rover Curiosity has apparently made a discovery \u201cfor the history books,\u201d but we\u2019ll have to wait a few weeks to learn what the new Red Planet find may be, media reports suggest.<\/p>\n The discovery was made by Curiosity\u2019s Sample Analysis at Mars instrument<\/a>, NPR reported today (Nov. 20). SAM is the rover\u2019s onboard chemistry lab, and it\u2019s capable of identifying organic compounds \u2014 the carbon-containing building blocks of life as we know it.<\/p>\n SAM apparently spotted something interesting in a soil sample Curiosity\u2019s huge robotic arm delivered to the instrument recently.<\/p>\n \u201cThis data is gonna be one for the history books,\u201d Curiosity chief scientist John Grotzinger, of Caltech in Pasadena, told NPR<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s looking really good.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n On the other hand, the fact that they aren\u2019t\u00a0releasing the\u00a0findings till December also makes me suspect\u00a0that something like this may be revealed:<\/p>\n
