We\u2019re pleased to announce the 19 feature films, TV\/Cable programs, and books for adults and young people being honored with Christopher Awards<\/strong>, to be presented in New York on May 23rd, 2013.<\/p>\n

Just some of their stories include music\u2019s role in raising awareness of apartheid; a Catholic bicyclist who saves Jewish lives in World War II Italy; an autistic child becomes a productive teen and a mother and daughter, faced with remodeling a hopelessly dilapidated home, receive support from their community.<\/p>\n

We\u2019d be pleased to arrange for interviews with Mary Ellen Robinson, vice president\/COO and Tony Rossi, director of communications for The Christophers<\/strong> and for any of the winners.<\/p>\n

Created in 1949, these awards are presented to writers, producers, directors and illustrators whose work affirms the highest values of the human spirit. The Christophers<\/strong>, a nonprofit organization founded in 1945 by Maryknoll Father James Keller, is rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition of service to God and humanity.\u00a0The ancient Chinese proverb\u2014\u201cIt\u2019s better to light one candle than to curse the darkness\u201d\u2014 guides its publishing, radio, leadership and awards programs.<\/p>\n
