Isn\u2019t that just like lying \u2013 to say one thing and to do another?\u00a0 So the Archdiocese pays for health care policies which offer contraception coverage to their Catholic employees \u2013 yet they condemn Obamacare as a threat to religious liberty?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Archdiocese of New York has previously acknowledged<\/a> that some local Catholic institutions offer health insurance plans that include contraceptive drugs to comply with state law; now, it is also acknowledging that the archdiocese\u2019s own money is used to pay for a union health plan that covers contraception and even abortion for workers at its affiliated nursing homes and clinics.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Saying one thing and doing another can be lying or can be *like* lying.\u00a0In this case, it\u2019s merely *like* lying\u00a0(since I\u2019m not aware of them ever *denying* they have these policies).\u00a0What it is, is hypocrisy.\u00a0 If I say, \u201cI am doing X\u201d but am not doing X, I lie.\u00a0 If I say, \u201cYou should do X\u201d but don\u2019t\u00a0promise to do it myself and\u00a0instead do the opposite, I am not a liar, but\u00a0a hypocrite.\u00a0But that\u2019s pretty cold comfort.\u00a0 At the end of the\u00a0day, the message of Cdl. Dolan\u00a0 is \u201cAmerican Catholics!\u00a0 You get out there and resist!\u00a0 We\u2019re right behind you as you sacrifice and suffer and fight\u2013but we aren\u2019t going to\u00a0do any of that stuff ourselves.\u00a0 Instead, we\u2019ll pay for abortions with your tithes.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a good thing I\u2019m not a Catholic due to the awesomeness of bishops.\u00a0I\u2019m a Catholic due to the awesomeness of Jesus Christ.\u00a0\u00a0As one of my readers\u00a0put it, Catholics generally assume that one out of twelve bishops will hand Jesus over to be murdered, one will deny him, nine will abandon him, and only one will show up at the foot of the cross while not having a clue about his Resurrection even when he\u2019s standing in the mouth of the empty tomb staring at his empty graveclothes.\u00a0Apostles and their successors are not chosen for their holiness because no Catholic is chosen for his holiness.\u00a0 However, we hope they like we will eventually become holy because they were chosen\u2013hopefully.\u00a0 Meanwhile, the Church continues to do its best to nuke itself.\u00a0 You can only shake your head and soldier on.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
