A reader writes:<\/p>\n

The blogosphere (at these within Catholic circles) has had a great deal of chatter in the past 12 months about a return to the beautiful.\u00a0 The premise is pretty consistent \u2013 the world has refused Truth and is closed to Goodness \u2013 our best option to evangelize the culture is through Beauty, since it seems to be the only universal left.\u00a0 With that in mind, we have some friends that welcomed some traveling musicians into their home.\u00a0 The program is called Love Good Music (http:\/\/lovegoodmusic.com\/<\/a>).\u00a0 The idea is that these folks travel to appeal for patrons, folks that agree to a monthly donation ($10 \u2013 $50 per month) to support the musicians in being solidly Catholic and creating Beautiful art (music).\u00a0 It\u2019s not Christian Rock necessarily \u2013 many songs don\u2019t even mention God or Jesus.\u00a0 On the other hand, it\u2019s art that is inspired and moved by faith \u2013 and so can and will affect the culture in a positive way.\u00a0 So my first reason for writing to you is to let you know of this program if you\u2019re not already aware \u2013 and to spread the word if it strikes you.\u00a0 Naturally the more folks that know, the more successful the program can be.<\/p>\n

As far as the music itself, it has a wide variety.\u00a0 But one of the musicians we heard last night is Kevin Heider.\u00a0 He has a Mumford \/ Folk kind of feel great stuff.\u00a0 But 2 songs in particular struck me.\u00a0 The first is St. Brigid\u2019s Fire \u2013 about her vision of heaven as a lake of beer.\u00a0 Great stuff.\u00a0 Give it a whirl.\u00a0 But the other reminded me of a topic you hit on every so often \u2013 specifically the bombing of Japan.\u00a0 The song is called Enola\u2019s Wake.\u00a0 Check it out.\u00a0 Great tune and echoes much of what you attempt to convey to folks on a regular basis.<\/p>\n

So if you\u2019re so inclined, spread the word about Love Good Music, give those 2 songs a listen & sign up to become a patron to support the cause.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
