A reader writes:<\/p>\n
You have been so kind to print my prayer requests for my grandson, Sam, who has leukemia. I would like to make another. Sam was diagnosed with leukemia on July 5, 2012. He seemed to do very well in treatment, but relapsed on May 1st of this year. Since then he has been battling for his life. Virtually all his options have been exhausted. Today he was transferred to the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland to participate in a study in the hope he achieves remission in order to have a bone marrow transplant. He needed government approval for this treatment, as the doctors will be using his twin brother\u2019s t-cells. The cells will be treated in such a way that they will attack the cancer. It will be a \u201cfirst,\u201d using a twin\u2019s healthy t-cells in such a way. However, it is a very daunting treatment as the possible side effects are quite serious.<\/p>\n
The family is hopeful as it seems God opened some doors to make this possible, when they were told it was impossible. I\u2019m asking for prayers for Sam, and his family. This has been an exhausting year \u2013 filled with dashed hopes, and answered prayers. Please pray for Sam\u2019s doctors that they are guided in his treatment, and that he may fully recover from this hateful disease. The next several weeks will be the difference between life and death for my sweet and brave grandson.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Father, grant complete healing of body, soul, and spirit to Sam. Give his twin courage and fantastically potent t cells. Give grace, skill, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, compassion and the proper technology to them so that they can help to heal him. Grant all ho who love him grace, peace, strength, faith, hope and love. Mother Mary, St. Luke, and St. Peregrine, pray for them. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
