For months, I\u2019ve been seeing bed-wetting panic from the Greatest Catholics of All Time about the Synod on the Family, and the horrible, terrible, no good, very bad \u201cliberal agenda\u201d Francis is allegedly about to impose on the Church. \u00a0The usual screamers in the Reactionary camp have been warning of the apocalypse to come from the \u00a0synod.<\/p>\n

Now, today, I get an email from the Woodstock wing of the Church, equally upset with Francis and the Synod:<\/p>\n

CCRI IN DESPAIR OVER POPE\u2019S APPOINTMENTS TO THE FAMILY SYNOD<\/strong><\/p>\n

Catholic Church Reform International (CCRI), a worldwide coalition of organizations and individuals from more than 6o countries seeking reforms in the church, is angry over the news yesterday from Rome. \u201cWe despair over these recent appointments to the Synod composed largely of the highest level prelates. We wonder what they know about the real needs of real families,\u201d said Rene Reid, director and co-founder of CCRI.<\/p>\n

CCRI believes that Pope Francis should underline his wish to \u201cinvolve all the People of God\u201d in the Synod by broadcasting the complete Synod proceedings on satellite radio and television, as they have already explained to the pope in an open letter earlier this summer. \u201cIf the Synod is for the people of God, then it should not be conducted in secret. We should at least know what the Synod\u00a0Fathers are saying, presumably on our behalf,\u201d said Robert Blair Kaiser, author and co-founder of CCRI.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
