Remember when violence against women was wrong? Turns out it\u2019s *hilarious* if the victim happens to be a tribal enemy of the Left.<\/a><\/p>\n

Wednesday afternoon, CNN anchor Carol Costello\u00a0hyped newly released audio<\/a>\u00a0of Sarah Palin\u2019s daughter Bristol tearfully recounting her being physically assaulted during a fight the family was involved in last month by saying it was \u201cquite possibly the best minute and a half of audio we\u2019ve ever come across.\u201d She grinned during the entire setup.<\/p>\n

The anchor went on to say \u201csit back and enjoy,\u201d before playing the audio, in which Bristol says she confronted a man who had allegedly pushed her little sister, only to have him shove her to the ground, then drag her by her feet while calling her an obscene name I cannot republish here that refers to the female anatomy.
\nCostello commented, still grinning, after the audio that \u201cthe long bleep\u201d was her favorite part. She ended the segment by saying \u201cyou can thank me later.\u201d<\/p>\n

Costello is the same anchor\u00a0who was enraged<\/a>\u00a0by the NFL\u2019s apparent lack of concern for the wife of former Baltimore Ravens star Ray Rice, who was punched by the football player in an Atlantic City elevator in February.<\/p>\n

Other liberals piled on, seemingly delighted that the daughter of someone they disagree with politically was physically attacked. Talking Points Memo provided a partial transcript of the audio,including it in a list<\/a>\u00a0of the \u201cbest (or worst) moments from the audio.\u201d<\/p>\n

MSNBC writer Joseph Neese described the scene in such a way that\u00a0teemed with glee<\/a>\u00a0and downplayed the assault.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lady with gray hair apparently wanted to punch Willow. Bristol was in the limo. A guy dragged Bristol across the grass. They took her $300 sunglasses and shoes. And she was left there,\u201d Neese wrote, before referring to the \u201cexpletive-laden audio.\u201d<\/p>\n

And he made sure to point out that Bristol was a \u201cformer \u2018Dancing with the Stars\u2019 contestant.\u201d The only quotes included from Bristol\u2019s audio was her saying she would defend her little sister. While describing the video, Neese allotted just one sentence to the attack on Bristol.<\/p>\n

What Neese found \u201cmost notable\u201d about the video was not the fact that a young woman tearfully told police she was assaulted and dragged, but that she described this using \u201c16 expletives in just 89 seconds.\u201d<\/p>\n

Radar Online, an entertainment news website,used the headline<\/a>: \u201c\u2018Drunk\u2019 Bristol Palin sobs to cops [\u2026]\u201d<\/p>\n

Dear Media: Tell us more about this \u202a#\u200ewaronwomen\u202c you speak of.<\/p>\n

I think it\u2019s especially notable that Carol Costello, the talking hairdo overseeing this little postmodern auto-de-fe is a woman. And it has nothing to do with gender. This was about class. For the open, tolerant, diversity-celebrating people rejoicing over this act of beating a woman, the Palins are white trash and may therefore be bru<\/span><\/span>talized, not merely with impunity, but with delight by the Manufacturers of Culture in Newstown. In her little cultural bubble, Costello\u00a0seems to have forgotten that she was not simply speaking to her upscale economic peers and was audible to the rest of us. It was a particularly ugly revelation of the contours of who is and is not protected by the Left\u2019s rather selective \u201cconcern\u201d for women subjected to violence. And it is equally telling that, so far as I can see, she, as the most visible member\u00a0of the auto-de-fe squad, is the only one who has apologized. \u00a0The rest of the Mean Girls appear to be using their relative anonymity to let their catty remarks stand.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Of course,\u00a0you just know that the people who are going to scream loudest about Costello\u2019s vile remarks\u00a0will be hypocritical propagandists\u00a0like Sean Han<\/span><\/span>nity, who just a week or two ago was pulling his chin about the \u201ctwo sides\u201d of the wife beating question. Perhaps forcing the two of them to spend 48 hours trapped in a small room with each other would be the best punishment.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
