Why would Notre Dame seek to arrest fairly restrained, prayerful and peaceful protesters who were advocating a cause Notre Dame purports to support?

As with President Obama, don’t listen to what Father Jenkins and the university board say, watch what they *do*. Father Jenkins and his ilk have helped a politician intractably opposed to the Catholic position on a “culture of life” issue look “reasonable,” while ensuring the church looks “unreasonable.”

Not a lot to add.
