Some kid gets hauled out of his house in the middle of the night because eager beaver Feds empowered by the Patriot Act to shred the Constitution are hyperventilating over somebody apparently hacking the kid\u2019s IP and faking bomb threats.<\/p>\n
Two months later, the kid is still rotting in the slammer <\/a>while his mother is powerless to do a thing about it.<\/p>\n Of course, the kid *might* be guilty of something. What should we do?<\/p>\n Well, Charles Krauthammer is urging us all to make ourselves safer with this logic<\/a>:<\/p>\n Question: If you have the slightest belief <\/strong>that hanging this man by his thumbs will get you the information to save a million people, are you permitted to do it? Now, on most issues regarding torture, I confess tentativeness and uncertainty. But on this issue, there can be no uncertainty: Not only is it permissible to hang this miscreant by his thumbs. It is a moral duty.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Clearly, the Feds still have \u201cthe slightest belief\u201d that this kid has information that could save lives. Maybe not a million lives, but somebody\u2019s life. So by the logic of MSM torture defenders like Krauthammer, we should be doing more to this kid than letting him rot in jail, just in case. Sure, he might be innocent. But are you willing to bet the lives of lots of innocent people on it? The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, as Krauthammer so eloquently argues to the applause of 70% of Catholics.<\/p>\n Memo to torture defenders: Enjoy the nightmare you are creating.
