Sometimes I get prayer request that I am a bit nervous about posting, because bitter experience has taught me that some readers will take them as a platform for political speechifying or (worse) barge into the combox to tell the person who is asking for prayer what is wrong with them and how they need to shape up. Just so you know in advance, my standing policy (which I periodically have to reiterate) is that I will have none of it and anybody who offers anything but prayer for people who make prayer requests will be ruthlessly dealt with. People who gingerly bare their souls and ask for support are to be treated with tenderness, not slapped around. Be warned.<\/p>\n

A reader writes:<\/p>\n

I have never used your prayer request before but I am really desperate this time and I don\u2019t know how to tell my friends, whom I would usually go to for support.<\/p>\n

I have run out of prescription drug coverage for the year. Because I don\u2019t have a job, and one of my medications is extremely expensive, I am (under medical supervision) rapidly cutting down on the dose and stopping taking it. Ordinarily this would go much more slowly, but I really cannot afford to even get one more refill of this drug because it has no generic and it is that expensive (and I have other medications that I need to buy out of pocket now).<\/p>\n

The problem is that, because I\u2019m going down basically as fast as the doctor will let me, it\u2019s really doing a doozy on me. I feel anxious and strange all the time. This is not good because I\u2019ve got a lot of other things I need to do particularly in this coming week (I\u2019m moving, and the person who was going to take over my lease suddenly backed out, so on top of all this financial strain I\u2019m now going to be responsible for two rents at once).<\/p>\n

Prayers to St. Dymphna, St. Joseph and my confirmation patron St. Timothy would be appreciated.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Father, please help your child through this difficult time. Grant the grace necessary to endure this trial and to take care of all the practical necessities facing her at present, through Christ our Lord. Mother Mary, St. Dymphna, St. Joseph and St. Timothy, pray for her.<\/p>\n
