That\u2019s because Christ knows that the thing which makes us uniquely human is our ability to remember the past.  Not simply our own personal past (a dog can do that), but the pasts of millions of others.  That is what a culture and a civilization *is*, and that is why Israel\u2019s entire history is careful act of remembering, studded with feasts, rites, rituals and monuments designed to make sure that their past is not lost.  Indeed, all civilizations are marked by this commitment to memory.  That\u2019s why, in contrast to Tolle\u2019s rubbish, the central command of the entire Mass is \u201cDo this in memory of me.\u201d  A people that loses its memory (as we are doing under the influence of fools and charlatans like Eckhart Tolle and Oprah Winfrey) is a people that is ripe for destruction\u2013<a href=\"http:\/\/markshea.blogspot.com\/2008_04_01_archive.html#7593335960547473078\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">and a particularly laughable form of destruction as it goes down to its doom reciting tommyrot such as Tolle\u2019s hilarious explanation of the origins of menstrual cramps<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A people that will not believe in God will believe in anything.<\/p>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\"><\/div>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One Cardinal Difference Between Christ and the New Age is that the New Age bids us to \u201cabandon the past\u201d while Christ bids us only to abandon our sins.
